How long do free short links last?
Free short links stay active for 3 years from the day they are created. After that, visitors see an expiration notice. The period can be extended for KRW 10,000 per link (VAT excluded).
Is there a daily click limit?
Each short link can receive up to 5,000 clicks per day. Once the limit is reached, the link is paused until midnight Korea time. During a paid period, the daily limit rises to 30,000 clicks for every link.
Are there ads or an interstitial page?
Links to sites registered as Clean Sites or official domains redirect immediately. Links to other sites first show a caution page with the original destination address, and that page displays URL.KR banner ads. Paid members do not see Google ads on URL.KR pages while logged in.
How does URL.KR block malicious links?
Links are checked twice: when they are created and every time they are clicked. At creation, the destination is checked against a blocklist of about 8,000 domains and the Google Web Risk API. On every click, the blocklist is checked again, so links to newly blocked domains stop working immediately.
When a link is created
- Only http and https addresses are accepted. App schemes, local file paths and bare IP addresses are rejected.
- Links that point directly to executable files such as .exe or .apk are rejected.
- The destination is checked against a blocklist of about 8,000 domains: about 2,000 malicious or spam sites and about 4,600 other URL shorteners, so other short links cannot be shortened again.
- The Google Web Risk API checks for malware, phishing and unwanted software.
- Redirect chains are followed for up to 5 hops, and every address on the way is checked the same way.
Every time a link is clicked
- The blocklist is checked again, so links to newly blocked domains are stopped immediately.
- Unless the destination is a registered Clean Site or official domain, visitors see a caution page first.
- Administrators can block individual links. Blocked links show a block notice.
Reporting a link
Anyone can report a link with the Report button on the caution page (once per link per 24 hours from the same IP). Links with 5 or more reports show a warning, and administrators review the original address before blocking the link or the whole domain.
What changes with the paid plan?
The paid plan costs KRW 25,000 for 6 months or KRW 50,000 for 12 months (VAT excluded). It raises the daily limit to 30,000 clicks for every link, removes the limit on managed links, extends detailed statistics to 30 days, adds editing, deleting, favorites and notes, and hides Google ads on URL.KR pages while you are logged in. Payment is by Korean bank transfer.
